Coaching and Mentoring

Coaching and mentoring are both supportive relationships wherein a colleague is empowered in making informed and proactive choices about resolving problems, planning their future, and building their career.

What is a coach?

A coach is a colleague from any area of the University (or another university in our network) who will listen, provide constructive challenge, and facilitate problem-solving and action planning across subjects such as professional growth and career development. You would approach them with a specific goal or question in mind, and a sense of what a good outcome might be.

What is a mentor?

A mentor is a colleague in a role similar to yours, or a role you aspire to be in, who will use their knowledge and experience to support you as you develop in your role and progress your career. You may not approach a mentor with a a specific goal in mind, but might instead be looking for long-term guidance.
